Description
Southern Railway engineer OVS Bulleid designed many iconic steam locomotives, his last for BR easily his most revolutionary – the ‘Leader’ Class of 1949. Aiming to merge the advantages of diesels with accepted steam technology the prototype suffered from numerous teething troubles large and small, and while five were built (to varying stages of completion), only the first, 36001, steamed.
This revised and super-detailed model is designed to use the chassis unmodified, enabling easy construction at the compromise of under-scale wheels. As with the prototype, some fine-tuning might be necessary!

Tomytec TM-TR02 Powered Motorized Chassis N scale (x2)
Graham Farish wagon wheels (x2)
0.5mm styrene strip (to retain wheels and for shims where necessary)
Wire (flexible electrical pickup between bogies and modelling wire for brake/heat pipes and brake gear)
Weight
Couplings (the method used is at the builder’s discretion but ELC couplings can be fitted)
Optional additional details to scratchbuild (at the builder’s discretion):
Tank top pipe (holes provided – ensure it does not foul the body interior)
