New releases! and where have I been?

Hellllooooo everybody! and welcome to another update from Oak Hill Works!

First, it has been a while since I posted an update here, and I am very sorry about that, unfortunately 2025 was a bad year for me, with accidents and illnesses keeping me from doing nearly as much as I would like for Oak Hill Works, but as treatment for these settles down I will be able to dedicate more time to getting Oak Hill Works back on track over the next few months, so there will hopefully be lots of updates to come!

To celebrate this return, we are going to have another 15% off sale! Use the code Feb2026 at the checkout for the rest of this month to claim 15% off your order!

Along with this we have a whole host of new releases! Starting with some N Gauge from Newman Miniatures! A range that has expanded a lot on the website since it was launched, and is proving very popular with customers old and new! There are far too many releases to cover each in detail, but have a look at some highlights here:

The Sturrock and Dean singles are great additions to this range, bringing with them heaps of Victorian elegance to any layout!

There are some smaller locos too with Sweat Pea, and the Head Wrightson coffee pot shunter.

and not forgetting the often requested Bullied Leader, a great addition to the range, and I am sure it will prove to be very popular!

There are loads more releases to see, so make sure to check out the full range here: https://www.oakhillworks.co.uk/product-category/newman-miniatures-n/

We also have some releases in 00 gauge from Newman Miniatures so don’t forget to check out the 00 range as well, with releases including…..

Agenoria and Stourbrige Lion adding to the early railways range and making it easier to model the pioneering railways in 00 gauge

The Newman Miniatures 00 gauge range is expanding rapidly, so make sure to check out the full range here: https://www.oakhillworks.co.uk/product-category/newman-miniatures-oo/

It’s not just the Newman Miniatures range that has been expanded, with some new wagons in the pre-grouping Southern range, including both and LBSC Bolster wagon, and a new LSWR Open Wagon

We’ve also had new carriage releases with a range of LB&SCR Craven carriages

These represent coaches built in the late 1850’s and comprise of a typical branch line train of the era, and into the 1860’s, the carriages were chosen based on photos of trains on the Eastbourne and Hailsham lines before the line was extended north from Hailsham.

and to wrap up, some more locomotives including a Sentinel Fireless 0-6-0

and the SECR S Class tank engine

There are pleanty more things to check out live on the website now! So don’t miss it, and remember to use the code Feb2026 to get 15% off your order until the end of the month!

I’m enjoying building your kits but am wondering about several things: Firstly, do you recommend any particular painting regime? I’m used to building conventional brass / metal / injection molded kits and use railmatch and other similar enamel paints, but am wondering if your printed kits require a different approach?

Secondly, do you have a way of straigthening wavy rooves? I’ve found that the rooves on the SER brake vans are a bit thin and have warped. i’m condiering replacingt hem with plasticard but am wondering if you have any tips before I do.

Thirdly, would you consider doing some 4mm kits for SER or LCDR locomotives? An LCDR M3 would be splendid, as would an SER F

      Hi Stewart,

Thanks for the comment, for painting, I use a standard rattle can of Halfords primer, and then paint with the same enamels I use for any other kit, so I don’t think you’ll have an issue there.

With regards to warping, this can generally be corrected with a some warm water to slightly heat the kit and forming the part back to shape and holding it while it cools down, typically I find any parts that have warped and been straightened like this hold their shape forever after this, though I do sometimes change parts for brass or plasticard for builds of kits for my own use.

A lot of the kits on the website are not actually made by me, and I offer a printing service for a lot of other designers, unfortunately I do not have a lot of time for taking on commissions these days, but am always open to printing things should another designer be willing to look at them.
