Description
The 3ft-gauge Southwold Railway ran from 1879 and 1929 between Halesworth and Southwold in Suffolk. None of its distinctive 2-4-0 Sharp Stewart tank engines survived, but a replica was built in 2021. This O16.5 model (7mm scale on 00 track) represents Locomotive No. 2 Halesworth.
Necessary to Complete:
• Airfix 00 scale 14XX chassis (cylinders/motion to be scratch-built). Blocks are provided to help mount the body at the correct height.
• Coupling (the chassis ones can be used with modification, or prototypical ones can be sourced)
Optional additional details to scratchbuild (at the builder’s discretion):
• Whistle
• Smokebox dart
• Handrails
• Safety Valve
• Hand brake and reverser (locating holes provided)
