Description

This N Gauge model represents the first shed-like replica of ‘Experiment’, an early coach used on the Stockton & Darlington Railway.  Once claimed to be the first bespoke passenger railway coach (horse drawn, but actually predated by another on the Swansea & Mumbles Railway), it has more recently been thought to be a rebuild of a prior stagecoach-like item and is now considered historically inaccurate in its design.  Nonetheless, a replica of it was used in the 1925 SDR celebrations and another today at Beamish museum so making this model accurate for Edwardian and modern ‘preservation’ use with SDR and other early locomotives.
(A more historically accurate version is also available.)
