00 Scale Freelance Rail Traction Engine

One of the more unusual commissions (if rather fun!), this model is based on the Coed Talon Colliery Locomotive ‘Express’ – a home-made amalgam of coal truck and portable engine.

Description

One of the more unusual commissions (if rather fun!), this model is based on the Coed Talon Colliery Locomotive ‘Express’ – a home-made amalgam of coal truck and portable engine.  Having only a single photograph to work from it is presented as freelance as much has had to be assumed, and presents the engine in an earlier/what-if format prior to the addition of a a ‘shed’ with second vertical boiler (as the main was decommissioned).  It is designed with separate motion/flywheel unit to aid painting.

Necessary to Complete:

Tenshodo aka Hanazono motor bogie, 24.5mm wheelbase, 10.5 diameter wheels (spoked or disk):

Screw-fit coupling (best to just glue/pin – mounting point included in the buffer with a pre-formed slot; some material may need filing): Hornby Spares – Coupling Unit and Screws – A1X Terrier – Pack of 1 http://www.newmodellersshop.co.uk/hornby_spares_couplings.htm

Weight will be necessary – the boiler is hollow and there is space for lead strips where required.
