Description

Built by Head Wrightson & Co in the 1870s, this model represents their best-known design – the vertical boiler geared industrial shunter affectionately nicknamed ‘coffee pots’.  Used from the Victorian Era up to the 1950s, this specific prototype worked for the Dorking Lime Company and is now preserved at Beamish.

Due to its size it is unpowered, but can be ‘motorised’ by coupling to a powered truck (separately available).

Necessary to Complete:
• Screw-fit coupling (best to just glue/pin – mounting point included on the tender): Hornby Spares – Coupling Unit and Screws – A1X Terrier – Pack of 1 http://www.newmodellersshop.co.uk/hornby_spares_couplings.htm
• Wheels – 11mm diameter driving wheels
• 3mm diameter axles
(These all appear on the current Alan Gibson catalogue)
• 22mm Coupling rods (various lengths are available via Alan Gibson which could be adjusted or these can be scratchbuilt to suit)

Optional additional details to add (at the builder’s discretion):
• Buffers (locating holes provided)
• Coal and crew
