N Gauge Stephenson’s Rocket

Description

This is a free-rolling N Gauge model of the iconic 1829 locomotive ‘Rocket’, depicted in the three stages of its life – as it was during the Rainhill trials, after its post-Rainhill rebuild with lowered cylinders and new smokebox, and as it survives today.

Necessary to Complete:
Graham Farish Jinty driving wheels (available as spares); 10.5mm diameter including flange, 1.5mm axle
Graham Farish wagon wheels (x1 as preserved) (x3 Rainhill trials and rebuilt)
Couplings (the method used is at the builder’s discretion)
Weight (the boiler is hollow)
Slide bars & coupling rods (these can be formed from wire fitting into pre-drilled holes in the cylinder and its support plate – see video)
(NB small strips of styrene will hold the driving wheels in place)
